Pura Batu Bolong - Lombok, Indonesia

Pura Batu Bolong located not far from where we stayed in Senggigi beach - Sasak Garden. A mere walking distance of fewer than 10 minutes was all we needed to get there.

Pura Batu Bolong entrance

INR 50,000 was donated in exchange for a yellow cloth at the temple entrance to tie around our waist while in the temple for both of us. Bear in mind that you should be returning the yellow cloth after visiting. Shorts are allowed as opposed to a traditionally covered outfit during temple visits. There is no entrance / visiting fee. Donations are however expected instead.

Stairs leading to the top. You may enter even if you do not intend to pray. Just go with a sincere heart.

Pura Batu Bolong is a famous Hindu temple with 14 altars on a rock on the beach which is visited by many worshippers. The name means "Rock with a hole". [source : wikipedia]

It is a simple and unique temple facing the open sea when you reach the top. Some stairs will take you up there. You might be able to witness how the prayer ceremony is being done if you are there at the right time. Just ask one of the priests or if you are on a tour, your tour guide should be able to advise you on this. Unfortunately, we didn't stay to witness the ceremony. A good 30 minutes is enough to visit Pura Batu Bolong.

Some good tips if you are here during evening or sunset, you may take a walk on the beach to get a beautiful silhouette of Pura Batu Bolong or simply spend a romantic evening with your loved ones.
