Lantau Island - Hong Kong

If I were to live in Hong Kong, no doubt the place to stay is definitely Lantau Island. Full of nature and slow pace of life. Most of all, humans are found not abundant here compared to Mong Kok district. Phew!

Travelling in Hong Kong is super convenient with bus, MTR train, taxi and ferry. In this case, I went with MTR train to Lantau Island.

The train ride to Lantau Island was a smooth and peaceful one. Riding past the view of the ocean, seeing the green island with hills greeting all visitors and residents. As it is also the last station of the train line, you will be sure to not miss the station.

Buses to go around Lantau Island at the same time is super easy with clear direction and sign board in English and Chinese.Fact is, it is similar to Singapore in many ways. Except for the green hills and slopes off course. Otherwise, the housing style, shopping mall are some of the similarities I noticed.

Being in Lantau Island, you would be influenced to spend as much time outdoor as possible since majority of them are outdoor enthusiast from what I can see. You can expect to see people cycling up the hill and slope to Big Buddha. People jogging around, going on a hike and so on.

Another reason why I absolutely love Lantau Island is that there is not much traffic lights that you need to stop every few meters of walking to cross the road. Hence jogging, cycling or even walking would be a stress free activity.

Many interesting place to visit once you are at Lantau Island. Read on about Po Lin Monastery, Big Buddha, Lantau Peak Hike, Tai O Village here.

Also please share your tips if you have experienced the same.
